Tucson, Ariz. - Colorado State junior Derrick Whiting carded an even-par 72 in the first round of the NCAA Men's Golf West Regional at the OMNI Tucson National Golf Club Thursday. Whiting is currently in a tie for 51st in the 141-player field with two rounds left to play.

Whiting carded four bogeys to go with two birdies and an eagle 2 on the par 4 fifth hole to account for his even-par round Thursday.

Utah's Dustin Primm leads the field individually with a six-under 66 while Florida holds a six-stroke lead in the team standings after recording a 15-under 273.

Whiting's second round will begin with a 9:53 PT tee time on Friday. He will play the third and final round on Saturday.
