COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State junior Martin Laird was named Mountain West Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for April after leading the Rams to three top 10 finishes, including a team title at the Ping Golf Cougar Classic in Provo, Utah last weekend. Laird has finished in the top 10 in each of his last seven tournaments and became the first Ram in school history to win two tournaments in the same year. Laird captured the individual medalist honors at the Cougar Classic with a seven-under 209 (67-69-73). He birdied the 18th hole after a BYU bogey to give CSU its first team victory of the year. At the Bite/Pacific Coast Invitational in Santa Barbara, Calif., March 30-April 1, Laird fired a six-under 209 (71-65-73) to place fourth. His second round 65 was a career-low and was one of four rounds in the 60's for Laird during the month of April. His final top 10 finish of the month came at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas, April 4-5. Laird tied for sixth with a three-under 213 (75-66-72), including a 66 in the second round. Laird currently leads the team and is ranked third in the league in scoring average at 71.3.
