BYU sophomore Manuel Merizalde is the McLeodUSA Mountain West Conference Men¹s Golfer of the Week after helping the Cougars to a 9th-place finish (20 teams) at the the Western Collegiate April 3-4 at the Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, Calif.

Merizalde, from Cali, Columbia, finished tied for 17th (100 participants) with a three-round total of 215 (70-71-74) and was the highest placing Cougar for the first time in five tournaments this Spring. During the Fall season, Merizalde led the Cougars in two of four tournaments. He is currently tied for third in the conference, and ranked No. 50 by the Mastercard Individual Rankings, with a stroke average of 72.
