Mountain West Conference Announces Men's Golfer of the Month San Diego State's Aaron Goldberg earns the March honor
March 28, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State junior Aaron Goldberg has been selected the Mountain West Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for March. Goldberg, an Encinitas, Calif., native, finished fourth at the Callaway Golf Invitational, helping the Aztecs successfully defend their Callaway crown from a year ago. Goldberg had rounds of 72-69-71, to finish at four-under-par on the 6,920 course at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. Just one week later at the Fresno State Lexus Classic, he notched his second straight top-five finish as the Aztecs pulled out a dramatic one-stroke victory over then-No. 36 UC Irvine for their first win at the Fresno tournament since 1967 and their first back-to-back team titles since the 2005-06 campaign. Goldberg scored 214 on the Sunnyside Country Club 6,950-yard course in Fresno, Calif., to finish at two-under-par. At the Oregon Duck Invitational, Goldberg, along with 70 other golfers, battled wind and rain on the 7,033-yard Eugene Country Club course to record his ninth straight top-20 finish in an elite field of 12 teams, which included three top-10 teams in Stanford (No. 1), USC (No. 6) and UCLA (No. 9). He was among a group of players with nine birdies overall as San Diego State finished third in that category with 44 for the tournament. For the season, Goldberg has six top-five finishes to his credit and ranks second in the MWC in stroke average (70.67). This is Goldberg's third MWC Golfer of the Month honor this season.
