UNM's Letzig Named Mountain West Conference Men's Golfer of the Week

Sophomore garners honor after posting his first collegiate victory.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Michael Letzig was named the Mountain West Conference Men's Golfer of the Week after posting his first collegiate victory at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Honolulu, Hawaii, Feb. 23-25.

A native of Richmond, Mo., Letzig carded a school record 199 (66-64-69) to finish at -17, defeating his nearest competitor by five strokes. Letzig, whose 64 in the second round is the second-lowest in Lobo history, placed first out of 100 golfers as he helped the Lobos to a first-place team finish. Letzig is fourth on the MWC leader board with a 72.3 average after 18 rounds this season.
