Cougars Move Up to No. 14 Ranking Junior Daniel Summerhays who is currently ranked No. 11 in the nation has led the team since the beginning of the 06-07 season.
Feb. 21, 2007 PROVO, Utah - After starting their spring season with a second-place finish at the PING Arizona Intercollegiate, the BYU men's golf team moved up to a No. 14 national ranking in the Golfweek/Sagarin Golf Poll release this week. Two low rounds in Tucson in January and a win at the Food4Less Pacific Invitational in November of last year, helped the previously No. 23 Cougars move up nine spots in the national ranking closer to conference rival No. 7 UNLV. Junior Daniel Summerhays who is currently ranked No. 11 in the nation has led the team since the beginning of the 06-07 season. Summerhays placed in the top-10 in all four fall tournaments and tied for 13th at Arizona to start the spring season. BYU continues to have a top-ranked men's golf program with 34 top-10 finishes at the NCAA Tournament in addition to a 1981 National Championship. The Cougars look to keep moving up as they challenge UNLV once again at the John H. Burns Invitational in Hawaii on Feb. 21-23.
