Air Force Finishes 10th at Turtle Bay Resort Collegiate Invitational Whitney fires a 67 on day three, finishes tied for 11th

KAHUKU, Hawaii - After three days of competition, the Air Force golf team finished in 10th place at the Turtle Bay Resort Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Hawaii. The Falcons, who compiled a three-round score of 902, saved their best round for last. Air Force shot a 290 (+2) in the final round, which was played at the par-72, 6,535-yard George Fazio Course. Leading the Falcons for the tournament was senior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.), who finished tied for 11th place at 215 (-1). Whitney also saved his best round for Wednesday, shooting a 5-under-par 67 on the final day of competition. Freshman Andrew Hoops (Highland, Calif.) was next in the individual standings for Air Force, placing 39th at 224, while sophomore Robert Belz (San Antonio, Texas) tied for 47th overall with a three-round score of 230. Junior Kyle Bailey (Austin, Texas) finished in a tie for 53rd place, firing a 236 for the tournament, while Travis Deckert (So., Wichita, Kan.) finished a stroke behind in a tie for 55th place. San Diego State captured the team title, with a three-round score of 838 (-26). The Aztecs had a pair of golfers, Alex Kang and Andrew Cooley, tie for first place in the individual standings, finishing at 209 (-7). The Falcons are off for the rest of the semester, but will start the spring season Feb. 15-16 at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational, hosted by UT San Antonio. Final Results
