Utah Golf Ties For Fifth At Kauai Invite

The Utes will be back in action at the Denver Desert Shootout in March.

KAUAI, Hawaii - The University of Utah men's golf team completed the final round of the 2009 Kauai Collegiate Invite. The Utes tied for fifth place with a final score of 871 (285, 291, 295), seven-over-par.

Freshman Camden Nicholson lead the Utes during the invite finishing in sixth place shooting a score of 210 (67, 69, 74), six-under-par.

Kaleb Mahanes finished in 18th place after shooting a score of 216 (71, 74, 71). Chase Hite tied for 28th place with a three round total of 222 (74, 75, 73), six-over-par.

Tied for 34th place junior Mike Branca shot a score of 225 (73, 73, 79), nine-over-par. Derek Adams completes the Utah roster finishing in a tie for 46th place with a final mark of 231 (74, 80, 77), 15-over-par.

The University of San Diego captured the team title with a score of 829 (274, 276, 279), 35-under-par. The individual title was also taken by San Diego, Joseph Harrison shot a three round total of 205 (68, 68, 69), 11-under-par.

The Kauai Invite marks the final tournament for the Utes until they open spring action on March 18 at the University of Denver Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz.
