STANFORD, Calif. - The Colorado State men's golf team carded a 277 on the final day of action at the Nelson Invitational at the Stanford Golf Course to finish fourth overall with a three-round score of nine-under par 843. Duke won the tournament by three strokes with an 18-under par 834. Washington finished second with a 837 while Colorado was third (842).
Duke's Ryan Blaum and Toledo's Brad Heaven tied for top individual honors with a 12-under par 201 over three rounds. Colorado State's Nolan Martin finished third only two strokes back with a 10-under par 203. Brock Mackenzie, from Washington, placed fourth with a nine-under par 204. Three golfers tied for fifth after carding a seven-under par 206 for the invite.
Ram Nolan Martin led the team with a third place finish after firing a six-under par 65 on the final day (67-71-65--203). Martin Laird tied for 15th, carding a three-under par 210 (70-72-68) while teammate John Hayes finished tied for 34th with a 214 (73-69-72). Kevin McAlpine (76-73-72) and James Kurtenbach (71-78-72) tied for 60th recording a 221.
