OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The University of New Mexico men's golf team moved up from 25th to a tie for 10th in the third round and made the cut for the first time since 1997. The Lobos shot an 11-over par 291, which was the best round of the day, in the third round on the par-70, 7,131-yard Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md., and is now 40-over par (289-300-291=880) for the tournament. Georgia holds the team lead at 15-over par and is nine strokes in front of second place Georgia Tech.

Individually the Lobos were led by junior Spencer Levin who shot a 1-over par 71 in the third round. Levin is tied for 29th at 8-over par (72-75-71=218) for the tournament. Other Lobo results are senior Madalitso Muthiya (75-74-72=221) and junior Jay Choi (73-75-73=221) are tied for 50th at 11-over par, senior Miguel Griego is tied for 74th at 14-over par (71-76-77=224) and junior Mark Anderson is tied for 132nd at 21-over par (73-83-75=231).

The individual leader is Michael Putnam of Pepperdine at 2-under par (67-67-74=208) and leads Major Manning of Augusta State and Roberto Castro of Georgia Tech by one stroke.
