STILLWATER, Okla. - The UNLV men's golf team shot one of the best rounds of the day, turning in a 12-over 300 to climb into eighth place after the second round of the NCAA Championship at Karsten Creek Golf Course on Wednesday.

Rebounding from Tuesday's poor opening round of 313, good for 21st place, the Rebels matched the second best team round by any team of the day. Only UCLA, which took the team lead with a seven-over par 295, bettered the Rebels 300.

The Bruins are 22-over through both rounds and lead host Oklahoma State by a single stroke. Clemson, Florida and Auburn are all within four strokes of the lead, and UNLV trails by 15.

Individually, sophomore Ryan Moore made a significant charge. The Rebels' All-American carded a one-under 71 on a day when no player broke 70. He improved to three-over for the tournament and sits six strokes behind individual leader Lee Williams of Auburn.

Moore's 71 also led the Rebels' team scores. Brien Davis shot 75 and JC Deacon shot 76, and both players are tied for 63rd place at 12-over. Ryan Keeney's 78 brought UNLV's team total to 300, and Travis Whisman's 81 was discarded.

The Rebels will begin their third round at 1:30 p.m. CDT at the par-72, 7,095-yard Karsten Creek Golf Course.
