SUNRIVER, ORE. - The University of New Mexico men's golf team finished second at the NCAA West Regional. The Lobos with the top-10 finish will advance to the NCAA Championships in Hot Springs, Va., on June 1-4. New Mexico carded a final round 8-over par 296 and finished the tournament at 2-over par 866 on the par-72 7,597 yard Crosswater Course at Sunriver Resort. The Lobos fell one stroke short of UCLA who shot a final round 294 and finished the regional at 1-over par 865.

Individually for the Lobos shophomore Spencer Levin led the way with a final round 73 to finish the tournament at 2-under par (69-72-73=214) in a tie for sixth place. Sophomore Jay Choi also carded a final round 73 and finished at 1-over par (70-74-73=217) for the tournament in a tie for 13th place. Other Lobo results are freshman Charlie Beljan finished at 2-over par (74-66-78=218) in a tie for 18th place, junior Jay Reynolds finished at 6-over par (71-75-76=222) in a tie for 33rd place and Madalitso Muthiya finished at 14-over par (82-74-74=230) in a tie for 83rd place.

The individual champion was shared between Travis Johnson of UCLA and Chris Nallen of Arizona at 5-under par.

The University of New Mexico returns to the course on June 1-4 in Hot Springs, Va., for the NCAA Championships.
