SUNRIVER, ORE. - The University of New Mexico men's golf team continued to play well as they moved into the lead at the NCAA West Regional. The Lobos shot a second round 2-under par 286 and are now 6-under par at 570 (284-286) on the par-72 7,597 yard Crosswater Course at Sunriver Resort and leads UCLA by one stroke. The top-10 teams at the NCAA West Regional advance to the NCAA Cahmpionships in Hot Springs, Va. on June 1-4.

Individually the Lobos were led by freshman Charlie Beljan who shot a career best round 66 and is now tied for fifth at 4-under par (74-66=140). Sophomore Spencer Levin followed his first round 69 with an even par 72 and is tied for 10th at 3-under par (69-72=141). Other New Mexico scores are sophomore Jay Choi is tied for 21st at even par (70-74=144), junior Jay Reynolds is tied for 34th at 2-over par (71-75=146) and junior Madalitso Muthiya is tied for 114th at 12-over par (82-74=156).

Oscar Alvarez of BYU, Travis Johnson of UCLA, Henry Liaw of Arizona and Chris Nallen of Arizona are all tied for the individual lead at 5-under par.

The NCAA West Regional final round is tomorrow with tee times beginning at 8:12 AM (PST). The Lobos will be one of the first groups off with live stats available at www.golfstat.com.
