TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Utah sophomore Dustin Pimm shot a six-under 66 in the first round of the NCAA Division I Men's Golf West Regional. Pimm's 66 places him atop the individual leader board heading into the second round Friday at Omni Tucson National Golf Course.

The sophomore tees off tomorrow at 10:02 PDT. The top-10 teams and two individuals advance to the 109th NCAA Championships, May 31-June 3, at the Crosswater Club at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore.

Pimm carded two eagles in the first round, along with five birdies. Pimm made par on eight holes and shot a bogey on three.

"I played really well, I putted really well today," said Pimm. "It was not as hot as I thought it would be though. Tomorrow I don't think I can do much better than I did today, I owe it all to my putting."

The Florida Gators held true to its top seed through the first round, as the Gators tallied a 15-under-par 273 total to hold the first-round lead Thursday.
