AUBURN, Wash. - With a steady final-round team score of 286, the UNLV men's golf team tied for third place at the NCAA West Regional on Saturday and earned the right to advance to the NCAA Championship.

The Rebels scored their best round of three on the final day at Washington National Golf Club (Par 72, 7,183 Yards), shooting two-under par to move to seven-over for the tourney and tying them with Georgia. UCLA defeated Arizona by a single stroke for the tourney title.

Those four schools, along with Arizona State, New Mexico, Washington, Southern California, Oregon and San Diego State, advance to the national finals, to be played at Oklahoma State's Karsten Creek Golf Course in Stillwater, Okla., May 27-30.

Leading UNLV's team effort on Saturday was senior Brien Davis. Davis carded 69 to move to one-under, tying him for eighth place overall.

Sophomore Ryan Moore played his best round of the tourney, also, scoring 70 to finish at two-over and in a tie for 18th.

Sophomores Travis Whisman and JC Deacon completed the team scoring with a 73 and 74 respectively. Whisman finished at three-over par, tied for 22nd, and Deacon tied for 70th at 11-over par. Ryan Keeney's 77 was discarded for the day, but the freshman managed to tie for 36th.

UNLV qualifies for the NCAA Championship for the 14th time in school history. The Rebels won the national championship in 1998.
