SUNRIVER, Ore. - The UNLV men's golf team slipped one spot on the leaderboard to fifth place after firing a two-over par team round of 290 in second-round action at the Mountain West Conference Championship on Friday.

The Rebels are one-over par for the tourney and trail leader New Mexico by 13 shots heading into Saturday's final round.

Individually, Colorado State's Martin Laird blistered the course with a six-under 66 to take a three stroke lead at eight-under par.

UNLV's Travis Whisman is the Rebels' top individual, tied for ninth at two-under. He fired even par 72 on Friday.

The Rebels' best round of the day came from All-American Ryan Moore. Moore carded 71 to move to two-over and sits in a tie for 17th.

Rounding out the team scorecard were freshman Ryan Keeney, who carded a 73, and sophomore JC Deacon, who shot 74. Brien Davis' 75 was discarded.

On the leaderboard, Deacon is tied for 12th at even par, Davis sits 22nd at three-over, and Keeney is tied for 27th at five-over.

Final-round play will begin at 10:00 a.m. PDT at the par-72, 7,270-yard Crosswater Course.
