SUNRIVER, Ore. -
The University of Utah men's golf team slipped a place on the second day of the Mountain West Golf Championship in Sunriver, Ore., but Ute senior Brock Padilla is just four strokes out of first on the individual leader board.

The Utes dropped from fourth to fifth, despite shooting a 299, 14 strokes better than in round one. Utah's two day total is a 612, a +36 on the par 72 course.

Padilla, playing his best golf of the year, goes into the final round of play tied for eighth with a 76-75-151 (+7). The rest of Utah's team hold the following positions (all ties): 16. Paul Winterowd (80-74-154, +10), 24 Ryan Ellis (83-73-156, +12) and Shawn Edwards (79-77-156, +12), 29. Luke Swilor (78-80-158, +14)

The Utes enter the final day of competition on Wednesday 11 strokes out of fourth place, currently held by Colorado State, which dropped from first. Tied for first are New Mexico and Brigham Young, each with two-round totals of 599. One stroke out is third-place San Diego State (600, +24), in fourth is CSU (604, +28), in fifth is Utah (612, +36), sixth is a tie between Wyoming and UNLV (623, +47) and rounding out the field is Air Force (641, +65).
