UNLV Claims Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Title Colorado State's Laird wins individual title.

SUNRIVER, Ore. - Leading wire-to-wire UNLV claimed the 2002 Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championship today on the Crosswater Course (Par 72/7,188) at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. The Rebel's maintained their second-round two-stroke lead over New Mexico to claim their second golf title in the three-year history of the MWC. The Lobos finished in second place two shots back at 869, followed by BYU (873), San Diego State (874), Wyoming and Colorado State (879), Air Force (881) and Utah (885). Colorado State sophomore Martin Laird fired a two-under par 70 to take individual honors with a three-day four-under par total of 212. Laird entered the final round two shots behind Mark Warman (San Diego State) who finished tied with J.C. Deacon (UNLV) for second place at 215. San Diego State's John Lieber turned in the day's low-round with a three-under 69.
2002 MWC Men's Golf All-Conference Team Announced At ChampionshipSUNRIVER, Ore. - The Mountain West Conference announced its all-conference team and individual awards at the conclusion of its men's golf championship today at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. San Diego State's John Lieber was named Golfer of the Year, UNLV's Ryan Moore claimed Freshman of the Year honors, and UNLV's Dwaine Knight was voted Coach of the Year in a ballot of the league's eight head coaches.
New Mexico, San Diego State and UNLV placed two players each on the 10-member team, followed by Air Force, Wyoming, BYU and Colorado State with one player apiece.
