Colorado State Leads After First Round Of MWC Men's Golf Championship CSU's Kurtenbach holds individual lead.

SUNRIVER, Ore. - The Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championship began today on the Crosswater Course (Par 72/7,273) at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. Playing conditions consisted of 60 degree temperatures, periodic drizzle, 25 - 35 mile per hour winds, and wind gusts of 50 mph. Despite the harsh conditions, Colorado State leads after round one with a 13 over par, 301. The Rams lead second-place BYU by four strokes at 305, followed by San Diego State (307), Utah (313), New Mexico (314), UNLV (316), Wyoming (317), and Air Force (332) Individually, CSU's James Kurtenbach fired an even par 72 to lead the field, followed in second-place by teammate Robby Stephenson with a 74. BYU's Kyle Wight and Billy Harvey, and San Diego State's Lars Johansson and John Lepak are tied for third at 75. The second round of play will begin at 10 a.m. (PDT) Tuesday morning, with the final 18 holes being played Wednesday beginning at 9 a.m.
