SUNRIVER, Ore. - UNLV fired a team-low 288 to claim the first-round lead at the Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championship today on the Crosswater Course (Par 72/6,180) at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. There is a log jam behind the Rebels with four teams within five strokes of the lead with BYU (291), New Mexico and Air Force (292), and San Diego State (293) applying pressure. Wyoming (296), Utah (298) and Colorado State (301) round out the field. Individually, San Diego State's Mark Warman tied a MWC single-round record with a four under-par 68. Three other players posted sub-par rounds in addition to Warman. Michael Letzig (New Mexico) is two shots back after carding a 70, followed by Manuel Merizalde (BYU) and Clark Corbett (UNLV) three shots off the pace at 71. Second round play continues tomorrow at 10 a.m. (PDT), with the final 18 holes being played Wednesday at 9 a.m.
