Day One Results

BEND, Ore. - Two-time defending MWC Champion New Mexico leads the eight team field after the first day of competition at the 2005 Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championship at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. The 5th-ranked Lobos carded a team total of three-under 285 on the first 18 holes and hold a seven shot advantage over both BYU and San Diego State, currently tied for second at four-over 292. The 13th-ranked Cougars have finished as the runner-up to New Mexico each of the last two championships. UNLV, the nation's top ranked team according to GolfStat, is fourth with a team score of 294 (+6), followed by Colorado State in fifth (297). Utah and Wyoming are tied for the sixth position at 12-over 300 and Air Force is eighth at 24-over 312.

Individually, New Mexico junior Spencer Levin is in first place with a one-stroke lead over teammate Jay Choi. Levin fired a three-under 69 on the 7,568-yard, par 72, Crosswater Course, while Choi shot a two-under 70. San Diego State's Josh Warthen, Colorado State's Nate Pettitt and BYU's Nick Becker and Ron Harvery, Jr., are all currently tied for the third after carding a one-under 71 today. Defending MWC Individual Champion Ryan Moore finished three over (74) and is tied for 16th place overall.

The second round will begin at 9:30 a.m. (PT) Friday morning, with the final 18 holes beginning Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Live scoring of the 2005 MWC Men's Golf Championship is available at at www.TheMWC.com and www.Golfstat.com.
