SUNRIVER, Ore. - BYU and New Mexico each fired a four-under par 284 to tie for the lead after the first round of the 2006 Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championship at the Crosswater Club in Sunriver, Ore. TCU is two strokes back after shooting a two-under 286, followed by UNLV in fourth place at 204 and San Diego State in fifth at 296.

BYU junior Clay Ogden carded a three-under 69 on the 7,630-yard, par 72 Crosswater Course to lead all individuals. Four players are one stroke back of Ogden for second place at two-under 70, including Matt Kinsinger of UNLV, Tom Miles of TCU, Steve Saunders of New Mexico and San Diego State's Andrew Scott. Defending MWC individual champion Nick Becker of BYU finished with an even par 72 and is tied for 11th place overall.

The second round of the 2006 MWC Men's Golf Championship will begin at 9:00 a.m. (PT) Friday morning, followed by the final 18 holes on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. Live scoring is available at www.TheMWC.com and www.Golfstat.com.
