TCU and BYU Tied After Second Round of 2008 Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championship

TCU and BYU are tied for first after the second round of the 2008 Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championship being played at Omni Tucson National Golf Course. The Horned Frogs improved their first round score by two strokes and are 4-under-par (564) after the first 36 holes. The Cougars were eight shots better in the second round after firing the best team score of the day at a 6-under-par 278. Defending champion BYU is currently at 4-under (564) entering the final round. First round team leader UNLV fell two positions to third place and is currently at 1-under (567). Air Force, Colorado State, New Mexico and Wyoming each bettered its team score in the second round. Colorado State improved four strokes and is in fourth place at 4-over-par (572), while the Lobos were eight shots better and moved into sixth place with a 12-over (580). UNLV sophomore Eddie Olson jumped from a tie for fourth place to individual leader after firing a 2-under-par 69 today on the 7,136-yard, par 71 Catalina Course. Olson's shot a 1-under 70 in the first round and has a two-round total of 3-under-par 139, just one stroke ahead of teammate Brett Kanda, Robby Ormand of TCU and Adam Tebbs of BYU. Kanda followed up his first round 69 with an even-par 71 today and sits at 2-under (140) for the tournament. Ormand, the 2007 MWC individual champion, posted the day's best score at 4-under 67 and is back in the title hunt with a two-day total of 2-under (140). Tebbs carded a two-under 69 today has a 36-hole total of 140.
