Rams Sixth In Border Olympics Tournament concludes Saturday.

LAREDO, Texas - Colorado State University's men's golf team is in sixth place following 36 holes of competition in the 51st Annual Border Olympics golf tournament, being hosted by Texas A&M University. The 17-team field played 36 holes Friday, and concludes the tournament with 18 holes Saturday morning on the par 72, 7,125-yard Laredo Country Club. Teammates Martin Laird and Tommy Sharp each fired two-round one-under par 143's to pace the Rams, who have a two-round total of 578, just two shots over par for the day. Laird and Sharp are tied for 13th place following the first day of play. Sharp, a junior from Salt Lake City, Utah, opened play with a three-under 69 the first round and followed with a two-over 74 to finish at 143. Laird, a sophomore from Beardsden, U.K.., shot a one-over 73 then a two-under 70 the second round to also finish at 143. Baylor leads the field with a two-round score of 564, 12 under, and four shots ahead of both Louisiana-Lafayette and San Diego State. New Mexico is fourth at 573, followed by Texas Tech, 577, and Colorado State, 578. Louisiana-Lafayette's Orn Hjartarson and Jamie McLeary of Baylor are tied for the individual lead, each shooting a two-round eight-under 136, two shots ahead of Gibby Martens of Texas-San Antonio and Michael Beard of Pepperdine, two shots back at 138, six under par.
The Rams' David Schultz is tied for 22nd, after shooting a one-over 145
Friday. Dallas Massey and John Hayes
are both tied for 50th, five over, 149.
