Rebels Still In Second Place After Second Round
No. 11 UNLV shoots 4-over 292 on Saturday at Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 11 UNLV men's golf team shot a second-round 4-over-par 292 on Saturday to remain in second place at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters, which is being played at Southern Highlands Golf Club (par 72, 7,510 yards).
California remained the team leader at 3-under 573 with a second-round 1-under 287. The Rebels are six shots back at 3-over 579. Texas A&M is third at 4-over, followed by Stanford and UCLA in a tie for fourth.
Individually, Texas Tech's Logan McCracken still holds a two-shot lead after an even-par 72 on Saturday. McCracken is at 6-under 138 for the tournament. Texas A&M's Tyler Dunlap and UCLA's Pontus Widegren are tied for second at 4-under. Dunlap shot even par during the second round, while Widegren was 1-under.
UNLV sophomore Blake Biddle was even par on Saturday and leads all Rebels in a tie for eighth at 1-under 143. Freshman Carl Jonson was 2-under in the second round at is tied for 17th at 1-over, while junior Kevin Penner is also tied for 17th after a 3-over on Saturday. Freshman Kurt Kitayama is tied for 38th at 4-over after a second-round 76, and senior Derek Ernst is tied for 41st at 5-over after a 3-over on Saturday.
The 15-team, 78-individual tournament features 11 of the nation's top-25 teams according to the GolfStat rankings. The tournament will conclude on Sunday with 18 holes starting at 8 a.m. The public is encouraged to attend the tournament and admission is free.
