Dec. 11, 2001

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - A week from Tuesday, Colorado State University's football team will be making history.

The Rams and coach Sonny Lubick will be playing in a bowl game for the third consecutive season - a first in school history - and the sixth bowl trip in Lubick's nine seasons.

In between, plenty is taking place as the team prepares to depart for the New Orleans Bowl game against North Texas University Dec. 18 (Louisiana Superdome, 7 p.m. CT/6 p.m. MT-ESPN2).

While the team prepares on the field - the Rams return for two more workouts in Fort Collins Wednesday and Thursday - university officials continue to sell tickets who plan to attend the game or support the school's "Send-A-Student" campaign.

"We have been very pleased with the support our Send-A-Student campaign has received again this year," said Director of Athletic Jeffrey Hathaway.

"Our first priority is to have as many fans and supporters of the Rams attend the bowl game and activities in New Orleans," said Hathway.

"Realizing that not every fan can make the journey, the Send-A-Student campaign offers Ram fans an opportunity to contribute and assist us in our bowl game efforts."

Hathaway said that as of Tuesday, the school had accounted for more than 3,600 tickets to the game.

"We have one week remaining before the bowl game. Between now and then, we going to continue to work as hard as possible and sell as many tickets as possible and continue the support for the student campaign."
