COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference announced its 2002 football awards today. The league's eight head coaches and conference-wide media panel selected the all-conference teams, coach, offensive player, defensive player and freshman awards.

New Mexico head coach Rocky Long captured Coach of the Year honors, while Bradlee Van Pelt of Colorado State and Jamaal Brimmer of UNLV were selected the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively. Freshman of the Year honors went to DonTrell Moore of New Mexico.
