Van Pelt Named Team MVP Senior rushed for nearly 900 yards and threw for another 2,682.
Dec. 8, 2003 FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Quarterback Bradlee Van Pelt, named the Mountain West Conference offensive player of the year in 2002 and again in 2003, was named Colorado State University's Most Valuable Player during the team awards banquet Sunday night. Rams' coach Sonny Lubick presented Van Pelt with the award, which is based on voting by team members. "Bradlee has had a terrific year," said Lubick to the crowd of more than 400 guests. "He is a team leader who plays with determination, passion, and leadership." Van Pelt rushed for nearly 900 yards and threw for 2,682 yards on his way to first-team all-conference honors for a second season in a row. He will lead the 7-5 Rams against Boston College, also 7-5, in the second annual Diamond Walnut San Francisco Bowl Dec. 31 at Pacific Bell Park (7:30 p.m. PST/8:30 p.m. MSTT.V.: ESPN2; Radio: Colorado State Sports Network). The banquet honored Colorado State's 24 senior student-athletes. Each of the seniors were recognized during the evening. Several other individual awards were presented including: Outstanding Scout Team Players of the Year: Jesse Nading, John Nichols, Zac Bryson, and Travis Garcia; Strength and Conditioning Award: Bryan Save; Academic Achievement Awards: Dustin Osborn, David Anderson, Joel Dreessen, and Eric Pauly.
