Fort Collins - A pair of Colorado State University freshmen football players have been honored for their play by The Sporting News.

Jesse Nading from Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Kory Sperry from Pueblo, Colo., were named to the publication's Freshman All-American third team. Both are true freshmen.

Nading is a six-foot, 243-pound defensive end who started five games and finished the year with 33 tackles, including seven for 23 yards lost and a quarterback sack. He also forced a pair of fumbles.

Sperry is a six-foot, six-inch tight end who started six times, and finished fifth on the team with 15 pass receptions for 225 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He scored his first career touchdown in the team's 30-7 win over Wyoming by recovering a teammate's fumble in the end zone.
