COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Steve Savoy (Utah) and Fola Fashola (New Mexico) were named Mountain West Conference Players of the Week. Savoy earns Offensive Player of the Week, while Fashola garnered Defensive honors. A Special Teams award was not selected. Savoy and Fashola are both first-time honorees.

MWC Offensive Player of the Week
Steve Savoy, Utah, Wide Receiver, Sophomore

Savoy had three rushes for 96 yards and two touchdowns, and caught five passes for 47 yards and a touchdown in Utah's 52-21 victory over BYU Saturday. He put the Utes up 7-0 with 52 seconds remaining in the first quarter after converting a fourth and goal with a two-yard touchdown run. In the third quarter, Savoy recorded the second-longest rush in school history with a 92-yard touchdown run that extended Utah's lead to 38-21. He concluded the night with a 20-yard touchdown reception at the 10:34 mark of the fourth quarter to put the Utes ahead, 45-21.

MWC Defensive Player of the Week
Fola Fashola, New Mexico, Linebacker, Senior

Fashola recorded 10 tackles, including four solo stops, in New Mexico's 16-9 victory over Wyoming Saturday. His tackle total included a career-high 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks as the Lobos limited the Cowboys to 33 net rushing yards on 40 attempts and three fields goals in the game.
