War Nearly Over for Battered CSU Troops There'll be time to heal if there's a bowl.
Nov. 18, 2003
By Michael BeDan FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The bright side is this: No matter what happens Saturday, Colorado State's battered and bruised will have plenty of time to recover. If CSU beats Nevada-Las Vegas, the injured can heal while waiting to find out whether a bowl game is in their future. If so, the Rams probably would have until New Year's Eve to mend. If UNLV beats CSU, the walking wounded have nothing but time. Neither scenario does much to help the CSU linebacking corps now, a unit that lost its best player back in September and continues to lose what has become a war of attrition. With Eric Pauly's career coming to an end in a Sept. 27 loss against Utah, sophomore Courtney Jones moved into the starting lineup. Jones has been limited the past few weeks because of a sore knee. Sophomore Jahmal Hall has started the past three games, but he injured his right knee Saturday, forcing junior Adam Lancisero into the lineup.
