The race for the 2007 Mountain West Conference football crown hits the home stretch as league-leading BYU will be looking to clinch a share of its second straight MWC title when the Cougars travel to Wyoming on Saturday, November 17. The BYU-Wyoming contest at 12 p.m. MT will be the first of two games to be televised that day on The Mtn.-MountainWest Sports Network, with the New Mexico at Utah match-up to follow at 3:30 p.m. MT. Other conference tilts on tap for Saturday include San Diego State at Air Force at 12 p.m. MT and UNLV at TCU in a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff. Colorado State will step out for a 12 p.m. MT non-conference outing at home against Football Championship Subdivision opponent Georgia Southern.

BYU (7-2, 5-0 MWC) has won three consecutive outings against Wyoming (5-5, 2-4 MWC), including a 55-7 decision last year in Provo. The Cowboys own a 17-15-3 lead over the Cougars in games played in Laramie. As MWC opponents, the two teams have combined to average 49.1 points a game with BYU posting a 6-2 mark in those contests. The Cougars have won 13 consecutive outings in conference play, including nine straight in MWC road action, and bring an overall six-game win streak into Saturday's contest.

Air Force (8-3, 5-2 MWC) and San Diego State (4-5, 3-2 MWC) have split their eight outings as MWC opponents, with each team owning a 2-2 mark in four meetings at their respective home stadiums. Overall, the Falcons enjoy a 9-4 advantage in games played at the Academy. The Aztecs have won four of the last five meetings in the series, with three of those games being decided by a touchdown or less, including a 19-12 outing last year in San Diego.

Colorado State (1-9) has won all six of its meetings with FCS teams during the Sonny Lubick era, including a 30-6 decision over Weber State on Sept. 2, 2006, when the Rams held the Wildcats to a CSU opponent-record minus-38 rushing yards. Georgia Southern (7-3) has won six NCAA titles, the most of any FCS team.

Since 2000, New Mexico (7-3, 4-2 MWC) is the only Mountain West team to register a winning record against Utah (7-3, 4-2 MWC). The Lobos have won the last two meetings with the Utes by a combined seven points, including a 34-31 decision last year in Albuquerque, and hold a 5-3 record against Utah in MWC action.
