UNLV's Reilly To Be Honored On ABC TV as Burger King Scholar-Athlete

LAS VEGAS - UNLV place-kicker Tim O'Reilly will be this week's national Burger King Scholar-Athlete of the Week on ABC TV, the network announced Thursday.

O'Reilly, a senior from Las Vegas, will be part of a 30-second feature at halftime on all of the network's games. In Las Vegas, the spot is scheduled to run on KTNV TV-13 during the Washington vs. Arizona game, which begins at 12:30 p.m. PST.

O'Reilly's honor will be introduced by ABC college football studio anchor John Saunders.

O'Reilly, a three-year starter, is a graduate of Bishop Gorman High School. An academic All-WAC honoree, he already earned his bachelor's degree in hotel management and this fall became the first active student-athlete to attend UNLV's William S. Boyd School of Law.

Bonds, honored two weeks ago, is a senior who has maintained a 3.8 G.P.A. as a Biochemistry major, while starting at quarterback for the U.S. Air Force Academy's football team. In addition to his academic and athletic endeavors. Bonds is also a volunteer at the Air Force Academy hospital, and is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
