Week 11 MWC Football Slate Features Four National Broadcasts TCU and BYU clash Thursday on VERSUS, while Saturday's slate includes a trio of broadcasts on NBC and CSTV
Nov. 7, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - MWC on TVAll five contests involving Mountain West Conference football teams will be televised in Week 11, including four games that will be available nationwide on cable and satellite systems. The national broadcast is part of a 19-game package between the MWC and its television partners, CSTV and VERSUS. Overall, 30 football games involving MWC teams will be available on cable and satellite systems this season. TCU and BYU will kick things off on Thursday, November 8, with a 7 p.m. MT match-up on VERSUS. On Saturday, November 10, Air Force will visit Notre Dame for a non-conference clash on NBC at 2:30 p.m. ET. The day's MWC slate has Colorado State squaring off against New Mexico in a 1 p.m. MT outing on The Mtn.-MountainWest Sports Network, while Utah hosts Wyoming and UNLV entertains San Diego State in a pair of CSTV-televised contests at 1:30 p.m. MT and 8 p.m. PT, respectively. On Thursday, league-leading BYU (6-2, 4-0 MWC) puts a pair of win streaks on the line against TCU (5-4, 2-3 MWC) in Provo, as the Cougars have won 12 consecutive games against Conference opponents and 10 straight at LaVell Edwards Stadium. BYU leads the series 4-2, but the two teams have split their previous two meetings as MWC opponents, with the Horned Frogs winning a 51-50 overtime shootout two years ago in Provo and the Cougars taking a 31-17 decision last season in Fort Worth. Saturday's meeting between Colorado State (1-8, 1-5 MWC) and host New Mexico (6-3, 3-2 MWC) features two squads coming off losses in Week 10. The Rams lead the series with the Lobos 31-23, including a 5-3 mark as MWC opponents, and hold a 17-12 edge in games played in Albuquerque. New Mexico has won three of the last four meetings between the two teams, capped off by a 20-19 decision last year in Fort Collins. Each of the last seven games in the series have been decided by 10 or fewer points. Wyoming (5-4, 2-3 MWC) snapped a six-game losing streak to Utah (6-3, 3-2 MWC) with a 31-15 win last year in Laramie. The Utes, who lead the series 47-31-1, have won three straight over the Cowboys in Rice-Eccles Stadium and hold a 29-11-1 advantage overall in games played in Salt Lake City. As MWC opponents, the two teams have combined for an average of 52.6 points per game, with Utah holding a 6-2 mark in those contests. San Diego State (3-5, 2-2 MWC) has won four of the last five meetings with UNLV (2-7, 1-4 MWC), including a 21-7 decision last year in San Diego, and holds a 9-7 edge in the series overall with a 5-3 record in MWC competition. UNLV has a 4-3 edge over SDSU in games played in Las Vegas. Air Force (7-3) will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak to Notre Dame (1-8) when the Falcons visit South Bend on Saturday. The Fighting Irish won last year's clash in Colorado Springs, 39-17, and lead the overall series 22-5. Three of the last four meetings between the two teams have been decided by a touchdown or less, including back-to-back overtime contests in 1996 and 2000.
