Opening Statement:
We came away with another win last weekend and found a way to make enough plays to come out on top. Our offense sputtered in the red zone again. We thought we had that headed in the right direction and it showed up as a liability. Eddie Wide had another great night for us. He has been a huge positive in our offensive production.

We picked up some yardage in the first half but we only had three points. We were looking for a spark and that's why we made the quarterback change. Jordan [Wynn] did a very good job. He was poised and confident and handled the situation very well. For a true freshman to come in and perform like that, we are very proud of what he did.

The defense played well all night and came away with a great effort. I thought that was [due] in part to the fact that we didn't turn the ball over for the first time this season. If you don't put your defense in bad situations, they have a great chance to play great defense. Our special teams didn't play up to our usual standard.

On film, New Mexico looks like they have in the past. They have a talented quarterback, big and fast receivers and some guys on defense, but they haven't been able to put it all together this year. You have to prepare and be ready to go. We have enough to work on with our own deficiencies to keep us busy.

Injury report:
We came out of the game pretty good, only a few minor issues and some bumps and bruises. Lei Talamaivao (broken leg) and Kenape Eliapo (eye) were limited last week but played some snaps. We hope to have Joe Dale back this weekend - he is probable. We are going to do some things today and tomorrow and determine that by Saturday.

On the quarterbacks:
We will name a starter on game day. With their skill sets being very different, it doesn't make sense to name that person until game day.

I am not a fan of a two quarterback system, but we have to do whatever is best for the team. I don't think that is the direction to go, but never say never.

Jordan is mature beyond his years - I have said that many times. He does not operate as a true freshman. I think part of that is the opportunity he had in the spring. We have conversations about being ready to go. He has been chomping at the bit to get in and have never talked of redshirting. His personality is much more outgoing. Terrance is very businesslike. Everyone has their own way.

Terrance has been supportive but disappointed. No one likes to lose their job, and that's not necessarily the case for the future, but it was for the second half of the game. We would expect out of Terrance what we expected out of Jordan.

On making changes:
We made two significant changes. The first was the coaches on the press box and field. Dave Schramm is fiery and intense, and to have him on the field is a benefit. We are comfortable with Aaron Roderick upstairs. There is a great deal of collaboration and cooperation among our staff. We want to find the best situation for our team and we wanted to look at that - it worked out well. On the quarterback change, we have been trying for seven weeks to find a situation to put Jordan in and this arose and we took advantage of it.

On the play calling:
There are some differences between the two coaches. One game doesn't give you an opportunity to see the difference, but you will be able to compare after a few games. Everyone works different. Tendencies we have built up are obsolete, so in a small way that is a benefit.

I believe the time to make change is when you need to, not necessarily when thing aren't going well and you are in panic mode. We are trying to get better. We would like to blow people out, but that's not happening. We are trying to find the right combination.
