COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Air Force senior Shaun Carney has been named a semifinalist for the 2007 Davey O'Brien Award, which recognizes the nation's top quarterback.

As a four-year starter, the Olmstead, Ohio native has broken the Falcon passing yardage, passing touchdowns and total yardage records this season. Against Wyoming, Carney tossed a pair of touchdowns to give him a school-record 35 in four years. Earlier in the season against Navy, Carney had 300 yards of total offense to set the school record for total offense. Carney enters Week 10 of the 2007 season with 4,997 yards passing and 7,279 yards of total offense. He also leads the Academy in completion percentage 61.7 and passing efficiency 146.71.

Nominations for the O'Brien Award When voting are based on each candidate's quarterback skills, athletic ability, academics, reputation as a team player, character, leadership and sportsmanship. The combination of votes from the Selection Committee and fan vote will determine the Finalists as well as the Winner this season, with 5% of the total vote coming from dedicated fans.

The 2007 winner will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN Dec. 6, 2007. The recipient will be honored Feb. 18, 2008, at the annual Davey O'Brien Awards Dinner at The Fort Worth Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
