MWC Football Schedule

The New Mexico at Air Force game scheduled for Thursday night, Oct. 23, at Falcon Stadium will be presented in high-definition by the Mountain West Conference and televised on the CBS College Sports Network's HD Channel. Thursday's game is the first of three contests the league will present in high definition on CBS College Sports Network's HD channel.

The TCU at Utah game on Thursday, Nov. 6 and Wyoming at UNLV contest on Thursday, Nov. 13 will also be available in HD.

CBS College Sports Network is available in both standard and high definition on DIRECTV (Channel 613) and Dish Network (Channel 152). The network is available in standard definition through most local cable operators.

The remainder of the league's Week 9 schedule features an Oct. 25 tripleheader on The Mtn. - MountainWest Sports Network. Saturday's slate includes UNLV at No. 18/17 BYU (12 p.m. MT), Wyoming at No. 15/15 TCU (5 p.m. CT) and Colorado State at San Diego State (6:30 p.m. PT). No. 12/12 Utah has the week off before resuming play with a Nov. 1 trip to New Mexico.

The Mtn. is available on channel 616 on DIRECTV CHOICE and above packages for the states servicing MWC institutions (Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming and the designated market areas of Dallas/Fort Worth and San Diego). Customers throughout the remainder of the country will be able to access The Mtn. with a subscription to DIRECTV's Sportspack. The Mtn. will broadcast 30 live regular-season football games this season, including six triple-header Saturdays.

Air Force (5-2, 3-1) returns home riding a two-game win streak following a 29-28 victory at UNLV last Saturday. New Mexico (4-4, 2-2) is also coming off a win in conference play, rolling past San Diego State (70-7) last week. Saturday's contest pits the nation's third-best rushing offense (Air Force - 300.14 ypg) vs. a UNM squad that has not allowed a 100-yard rusher in 11 consecutive games. The Falcons have won three of the last four meetings with the Lobos and hold a 15-10 lead in the series overall, including a three-game win streak and 8-2 mark in Colorado Springs. Last season, New Mexico came away with a 34-31 victory in a turnover-plagued outing in Albuquerque. In nine meetings as MWC opponents, the average scoring total between AFA and UNM is 57 points. The lowest scoring total over the nine years was 31 points in 2006 (AFA 24, UNM 7).

UNLV (3-4, 0-3) and No. 18/17 BYU (6-1, 2-1) will both be looking for a return to the win column after falling in their respective MWC outings last week. The Rebels dropped a narrow 29-28 decision to Air Force in Las Vegas, while the Cougars saw their 16-game win streak come to an end with a 32-7 loss to TCU in Fort Worth. UNLV has been perfect in the red zone this season, scoring on all 20 of their chances inside the 20 yard line. BYU has won a MWC-record 16 consecutive games at LaVell Edwards Stadium, including a MWC-record 10 straight league contests dating back to a Nov. 19, 2005 loss to Utah, 34-41. Five of the last eight games between these two programs have been decided by 10 points or less. The Cougars have won three straight vs. the Rebels, including a 24-14 decision last season in Las Vegas, and lead the all-time series, 12-3. All three of UNLV's wins vs. BYU have come in Provo, with the last one happening in 2004 (24-20).

League co-leader TCU (7-1, 4-0) plays host to a Wyoming (2-5, 0-4) squad that is looking to snap an eight-game MWC losing streak. The Horned Frogs have won three straight games heading into Saturday's contest, including a 32-7 outing vs. BYU last Thursday that ended the Cougars' NCAA-leading 16-game win streak. The Cowboys were idle last week after falling to Utah, 40-7, on Oct. 11. TCU has not allowed a 100-yard rusher in 13 consecutive games and boasts the nation's top-ranked defense (218.63 ypg). The two squads have split their first four meetings, with each team winning at home and on the road. The average scoring total in the previous four games is 44 points. TCU's two wins have been by an average of 19 points, while Wyoming's two victories have been by a combined 10 points. Last year, the Cowboys edged the Frogs, 24-21, in Laramie.

Colorado State (3-4, 1-2) fell to No. 14 Utah (49-16) last week, while San Diego State (1-6, 0-3) lost a 70-7 outing at New Mexico. Saturday's contest between the Rams and Aztecs features the league's second- and third-ranked passing offenses (CSU - 240.0 ypg; SDSU - 228.57 ypg). San Diego State has won three straight games vs. Colorado State and holds a 15-12 edge in the overall series, including a 9-6 advantage in San Diego. Last year's Aztec win in Fort Collins was a four-point decision (24-20).
