Mountain West Conference Names Football Players of the Week

BYU WR Collie, TCU LB Washington and P Kelton honored

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Austin Collie (BYU) and Daryl Washington and Anson Kelton (TCU)) are Mountain West Conference Players of the Week for games through Oct. 12.  Collie earns Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Washington garners the Defensive Player award and Kelton receives Special Teams recognition.  This marks the first career weekly accolade each for Collie, Washington and Kelton.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
AUSTIN COLLIE, BYU
Junior, Wide Receiver, El Dorado Hills, Calif./Oak Ridge HS
Austin Collie had nine catches for a career-high 155 yards and a touchdown in leading No. 9/8 BYU to a 21-3 victory over New Mexico. The junior wide receiver accounted for more than half of the Cougars' 285 receiving yards in the contest, with six of his final seven receptions leading to first downs and seven of his nine catches going for 11 yards or more. Collie, who hails from El Dorado Hills, Calif., has recorded four consecutive 100-yard receiving games and ranks among the nation's top five receivers in average yards (112.7/2nd), receptions (7.8 pg/5th) and total receiving yards (673/5th).

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DARYL WASHINGTON, TCU
Junior, Linebacker, Irving, Texas/Irving HS
Daryl Washington registered four tackles, including two tackles for loss (-10 yards) and a sack (-7 yards), as TCU ended Colorado State's five-game home win streak with a 13-7 victory on Saturday. The junior linebacker also recovered a third-quarter fumble and made an interception in the final minute of play to preserve the Horned Frogs' victory. Washington, a native of Irving, Texas, helped lead a TCU defense that recorded six sacks while limiting Colorado State to 11 yards rushing and 199 yards of total offense.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANSON KELTON, TCU
Freshman, Punter, Fort Worth, Texas/Aledo HS
Anson Kelton registered seven punts for an average of 42.6 yards under wet conditions in TCU's 13-7 win at Colorado State. The redshirt freshman landed four of his seven punts inside the CSU 17 yard line, including three inside the 10 and two inside the 3, to force the Rams into an average starting field position of their own 19 yard line. Kelton had five punts of 40 yards or more in the contest, including a 45-yarder and a long of 47 yards.
