BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall served as the Lobos' defensive coordinator under New Mexico head coach Rocky Long from 1998-2002.

Air Force (3-2, 1-1) and San Diego State (1-4, 0-1) will each be looking for a return to the win column after losing their respective contests last week. The two squads have split their last four meetings, with two of those contests being decided by a touchdown or less. Air Force won last year's meeting in Colorado Springs (55-23).
