COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Mountain West Conference Commissioner Craig Thompson announced today the 2005 and 2006 intra-conference football schedules. The configuration accommodates TCU's entrance into the Conference beginning in fall 2005 and provides a balance of four home and four road games per institution each season. It also incorporates a number of adjustments to the previous framework that was established at the MWC's inception in 1999. That previous format, which required an uneven number of home conference games (4/3) every other season, is reflected for the final time in the 2004 schedule. The new format will be the basis upon which the complete 2005 and 2006 schedules will be constructed, including dates for all non-conference and conference contests. That process will not necessarily result in the MWC games being played in the order listed, but will adhere to the existing Conference scheduling parameters and accommodate television and institutional considerations. Unless subsequently altered by the membership, this new scheduling configuration will continue for the 2007 season and beyond.
