Players learning to finish practice strong

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – With only 18 days until the Rams face off against the University of Colorado in the annual Rocky Mountain Showdown, each practice is an opportunity to get better—and a reminder that game day is looming.
At practice on Thursday, both sides of the ball worked on areas of emphasis according to Head Coach Jim McElwain. The defense participated in drills focused on forcing turnovers while the offense’s efforts centered on getting various personnel groupings on and off the field efficiently.
Unfortunately, one player who won’t be able to display what he has learned this fall camp is Davon Riddick. McElwain announced after practice that the running back will undergo surgery on his wrist, forcing the freshman to miss substantial time.
“He really was having a great camp,” said McElwain. “I feel real bad about that.”
The first-year coach was pleased with his team’s effort on Tuesday, saying the players are learning to finish hard as opposed to simply ‘enduring’ the practice.
