COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference announced today an updated broadcast schedule that will include 55 games on national and regional television.

Today's announcement reflects the new partnership between CSTV Networks and Comcast for ownership and distribution of The mtn. - MountainWest Sports Network. The schedule includes national games on OLN (the network will change its name to Versus on Sept. 25) and CSTV, along with non-conference road appearances on other national networks (eg., ESPN, Fox Sports Net and TBS).

In order to add the OLN national telecasts to the schedule and accommodate a weekly regional double-header on The mtn., some minimal adjustments in outlets and kick times were necessary. OLN has committed to televise eight MWC games, while CSTV will air an additional eight contests nationally. A total of 30 games will be televised on The mtn. - the first-ever regional network dedicated to a collegiate conference.

The Mountain West Conference kicks off the season with San Diego State hosting UTEP on Thursday, August 31 in a nationally-televised game on CSTV beginning at 7:30 p.m. PT. Other national highlights include Colorado State hosting Colorado (CSTV) at Invesco Field at Mile High in Denver the second week of the season (Sept. 9), Texas Tech visiting TCU (OLN) on Sept. 16, Boise State at Utah (OLN) on September 30, Notre Dame at Air Force (CSTV) on Nov. 11, and numerous key Conference match-ups throughout the schedule.

The broadcast outlet(s) for the remaining handful of games on the schedule are still to be determined and may include broadband distribution, video-on-demand, customized local programming and/or wireless applications.

The 2006 MWC football television schedule exemplifies the "Fans First" philosophy. Forty-eight of the 55 MWC-controlled games are set for Saturdays (87 percent) with kickoffs generally in institutionally-preferred time slots between 12 noon and 6 p.m.
