Air Force football coach Troy Calhoun, along with former head coach Fisher DeBerry, will once again participate in the annual Colorado Coaches for Charity event on Friday, May 18, at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
Joining Calhoun are area coaches Earnest Collins, Jr. (Northern Colorado), Jim McElwain (Colorado State) and John Wristen (CSU-Pueblo. Guests will be treated to a cocktail reception, a dinner program emceed by former Bronco great Ed McCaffrey, football highlight videos and each of the coaches speaking. The event also features live and silent auctions and presentations of the Jerry D. McMorris Community MVP Awards.
"This is a fun and meaningful night for us every year," said DeBerry, who serves as Chairman of the Fisher DeBerry Foundation. "The state of Colorado is blessed to have wonderful football coaches with big hearts. These coaches don't just spend time on the football field or watching game film; they truly care about using their positions to give back to their respective communities."
Proceeds raised from the event are split between the charities that each coach chooses to support. In the first four years, over $95,000.00 has been donated to various organizations all over Colorado.
Several VIP's also attend each year. Past attendees include Denver Broncos great Randy Gradishar, former Colorado Buffs quarterback Joel Klatt; legendary Colorado State football coach Sonny Lubick; former Denver Nuggets star Bill Hanzlik, Craig Thompson, Mountain West Conference Commissioner, and many others.
