40 Lobos Named to Academic All-Mountain West Team New Mexico has third-most honorees in MW

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Mountain West honored 40 University of New Mexico student-athletes with the Fall 2011 Academic All-Mountain West Team honor today. The Lobos were tied for the third-most honorees among the nine MW members. UNM has now finished in the top three for most Academic All-MW honorees for 12 consecutive semesters. The Lobo women’s soccer team led the MW with 16 honorees and the Lobo women’s cross country team tied for the league lead with eight honorees. A total of 308 student-athletes were named to the Fall 2011 Academic All-Mountain West team. Fall sports include men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer and women's volleyball. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
