FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Jeff Ballard carved up Wyoming's nationally top-ranked pass defense for 244 yards to lead TCU to a 26-3 win Saturday night.

The Cowboys (4-5, 3-2 Mountain West Conference) entered the game allowing just 121 passing yards and 227 total yards per game. Colorado State's 217 passing yards had been the most against Wyoming.

On TCU's first possession, Ballard drove the Horned Frogs (5-2, 1-2) 85 yards, with 80 of the yards on four passes, for a 6-0 lead.

Lonta Hobbs scored the touchdown, his third in three consecutive games, from one yard out, bouncing off a pileup and running to his right into the end zone.

The big play was a 42-yard pass to Quentily Harmon. Stinson yanked the ball out of Harmon's hands, but a replay review showed the receiver was down before the ball came loose.

After the Cowboys' John Wendling fumbled away the kickoff, TCU (5-2, 1-2) added a 22-yard field goal by Peter LoCoco.

The score remained 9-0 until the third quarter. The Cowboys wasted three scoring opportunities in TCU territory. Dorsey Golston returned two interceptions to the Frogs' 39 and 23, and Wade Betschart recovered a fumble on the second-half kickoff at the 22. Those three possessions led to a punt, a missed field goal and Brian Bonner's interception of Karsten Sween at the goal line.

A 45-yard pass to Harmon, on which he jumped high to take the ball away from Stinson, set up LoCoco's 33-yard field goal with 4:31 remaining in the third quarter.

On the Horned Frogs' next possession, from their 20, Ballard spotted Donald Massey open over the middle. He took the pass 77 yards to the Cowboys 3. On the next play, wide receiver Marcus Brock carried three yards for his second rushing touchdown this season.

The Cowboys scored with 12:16 remaining in the game on Aric Goodman's 36-yard field goal.

TCU came back with Ballard passing the ball to Harmon at the Wyoming 1. From there, Hobbs took an option pitchout from Ballard for his 35th career rushing touchdown. That's the second-highest total in Horned Frogs history, behind only LaDainian Tomlinson's 54.

Ballard completed 11 of 18 passes. Harmon caught three for 105 yards, and Massey added 85 yards on three carries. The Frogs added 183 rushing yards, headed by Hobbs 67 in 13 carries, for a total of 432 yards was the most against Wyoming this season.

TCU's defense held the Cowboys to 165 yards - 137 passing and 28 rushing.
