Mountain West Announces Men's Basketball Player of the Week UNLV's Chace Stanback earns second career weekly accolade
Dec. 26, 2011 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV senior guard/forward Chace Stanback has been named the Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games through December 25. This is the second career weekly accolade for Stanback. Stanback averaged 22 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while leading nationally-ranked UNLV to a 2-0 record last week. The Los Angeles, Calif., native recorded career-highs of 29 points and eight made 3-pointers in an 81-63 win over ULM on Monday, going 8-of-9 from behind the arc and 10-of-13 from the field overall. He also had four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 32 minutes of action vs. the Warhawks. Stanback followed that performance with 15 points, three rebounds and one assist in Friday's 85-68 triumph over California. He was 6-of-12 from the field overall against the Bears, hitting a trio of 3-pointers, while adding one assist in 29 minutes of play. For the week, Stanback was 16-of-25 (.640) from the field, including 11-of-16 (.688) from 3-point range, and 1-of-2 from the free throw line.
