MWC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

UNLV's Wendell White earns first career weekly honor.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV senior Wendell White was named the Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, marking his first career weekly honor.

A 6-6 guard from Los Angeles, Calif., White led UNLV to two non-conference road victories last week, including a 58-49 upset over 20th-ranked Nevada, Reno. Against Hawai`i, White scored a game-high 20 points and a game-best tying 11 rebounds (team season-best eight offensive boards), marking his second double-double of the season and third of his career. He followed with team-highs in points (12) and rebounds (nine) vs. No. 20 Nevada, Reno, helping the Rebels to their first win over a ranked opponent since Feb. 5, 2000 (No. 19 Utah) and first win over a ranked non-conference opponent since defeating No. 2 Arkansas on Feb. 10, 1991.

For the week, White averaged 16.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, while shooting 36.1 percent (13-for-36) from the field and 85.7 percent (6-for-7) from the free throw stripe.
