Mountain West Names Men's Basketball Player of the Week UNLV's Mike Moser garners honor for second straight week
Nov. 28, 2011 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV sophomore forward Mike Moser has been named the Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games through November 27. This is the second career weekly accolade for Moser. A 6-8 forward, Moser averaged a double-double while helping UNLV improve to 7-0 with a trio of wins last week, including an upset of No. 1 North Carolina in the championship game of the Las Vegas Invitational. The sophomore from Portland, Ore., opened the week with 14 points and eight rebounds in a 75-52 win over Cal Poly, adding four steals, two blocked shots and one assist. He followed that outing with 10 points and 13 rebounds in the Runnin' Rebels' 66-55 triumph over USC, also tallying one assist and one blocked shot. Moser's best performance of the week, however, came in Saturday's 90-80 victory over the Tar Heels, as the Rebels became the first Mountain West squad to beat a team ranked No. 1 in both the Associated Press and Coaches' polls. Moser recorded his second double-double in as many days, and fourth of the season, finishing with 16 points, a game-high 18 rebounds and six assists in the contest. For the week, Moser averaged 13.3 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocked shots per game in 30.0 minutes of action. He was 14-of-15 (.933) from the free throw line and one-third of his rebounds (13-of-39) were on the offensive glass.
