Mountain West Names Men's Basketball Player of the Week

UNLV sophomore forward Mike Moser earns first career weekly honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV sophomore forward Mike Moser has been named the Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games through November 20. This is the first career weekly accolade for Moser.

A 6-8 forward, Moser averaged a double-double while helping lead UNLV to a 3-0 record last week with wins over Nevada, Canisius and Morgan State. The sophomore from Portland, Ore., opened the week with eight points and 11 rebounds in a 71-67 win over in-state rival Nevada, adding a career-high five steals, one assist and two blocked shots. He followed that performance with a then career-high 19 points and nine rebounds in the Runnin' Rebels' 95-70 triumph over Canisius, going 8-of-12 from the field. Moser also dished out a then career-best five assists to go with three steals and two blocked shots against the Griffins. In his final outing of the week, a 92-55 victory over Morgan State, Moser recorded his second career double-double, establishing a new career-high with 23 points and 17 rebounds. He also topped his previous personal-best with six assists and matched a career-high with five steals. For the week, Moser shot 55 percent (22-of-40) from the field and 85 percent (6-of-7) from the free throw line while averaging 16.7 points, 12.3 rebounds, 4.3 steals, 4.0 assists and 1.3 blocks per game in 27.7 minutes of action.
