SAN DIEGO - Coming off its fourth straight postseason berth and fourth consecutive 20-win season, the San Diego State men's basketball team finds itself in the first 2009-10 ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, released Thursday morning.

The Aztecs received eight points in the first poll of year and is ranked No. 44 in the nation based on points. On a Mountain West Conference level, the poll results mirror the MWC's media poll as SDSU trails preseason favorite Brigham Young, which garnered 16 points and is 40th nationally, and is ahead of UNLV (2 pts., No. 53).

Single-game and season tickets are currently on sale with season-seat prices starting as low as $99. San Diego State takes the floor for the first time on Tuesday, Nov. 3, when they play host to Cal Baptist in an exhibition game at Viejas Arena (formerly Cox Arena). Tip time is slated for 7 p.m. PT.

SDSU is again expected to contend for the MWC crown as multiple preseason publications have the Aztecs finishing in the top three, including Sporting News, which picked San Diego State to win the league championship.

The Aztecs welcome back preseason all-Mountain West choice Billy White, two-year starter D.J. Gay, sophomore Tim Shelton and experienced senior Kelvin Davis. Joining the quartet this year is a highly talented group of players beginning with the MWC's preseason freshman of the year Kawhi Leonard, Division I transfers Brian Carlwell (Illinois) and Tyrone Shelley (Pepperdine), junior college transfer Malcolm Thomas and the highly touted Chase Tapley and Alec Williams.
